# Pinky Promise

> A gentle iPhone screen-time app. Keep a promise on your own for free, or make one with a person you trust.

Pinky Promise helps someone choose the apps that pull them away and keep those apps closed, either alone or with one trusted person. It uses Apple Screen Time. It is not a parental-control app, not a tracker, and not an emergency service.

## Product facts

- Solo promises are free and need no account. They stay on the iPhone.
- Shared promises need Sign in with Apple and the Shared plan, a monthly or annual Apple subscription. One plan covers both people. Prices appear in the app before purchase.
- Both people confirm every shared promise and every edit before it starts.
- Either person can unpair at any time without approval. Unpairing removes shared restrictions.
- Anyone can block a former partner so that account cannot send another pairing request.
- The device owner can always turn off Screen Time access for Pinky Promise in iOS Settings.
- App and website choices stay on the iPhone as private Apple Screen Time tokens. Servers never receive those choices or detailed usage.
- A partner sees display name, confirmed promises, typed group names, Pinky Pass requests, and whether protection is set up. They never see exact apps, usage, messages, the screen, or location.
- Pinky Promise does not include analytics SDKs and does not show ads.

## Promise types

- Always closed: the chosen apps stay closed until the promise is edited or ended.
- Daily limit: 5 to 180 minutes, in 5-minute steps. The limit resets at midnight.
- Certain hours: closed during chosen hours on chosen weekdays.
- Focus session: one session from 15 to 240 minutes, in 15-minute steps. The default is 45 minutes.

## Pinky Pass

- A shared-promise pause of 5 to 60 minutes. A reason is required.
- Partners can also gift a pass, with a note of at most 180 characters.
- Solo promises have no passes. The person edits or ends the promise themselves.

## Safety

- Unpair, block, turn off Screen Time access, or delete the account without anyone else's permission.
- Pairing codes work once and expire after 15 minutes. Invitation links use https://pinky-promise.app/pair#code=NNNNNN. The code stays in the URL fragment so the website never reads it.
- Account deletion ends the partnership and removes shared history. A solo promise stays on the iPhone until ended. An Apple subscription keeps renewing until canceled in Settings.
